Sean Lanyi is a PGA Teaching Professional at Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, California.  Lanyi is the Lead Instructor for the Golf Digest and Advantage Golf Schools offered at Black Gold.  Lanyi is a TaylorMade Golf Staff Member and supporter of Sub70USA Golf Apparel.  He has taught and been trained by some of the best instructors in the world including Jerry King, Jim Waldron, Stan Utley, Alan Ochiai, Glenn Deck, Seth Glasco, Mike Malaska, Steve Soule, Travis Fulton, Tim Dietrich and Greg Nichols.  Lanyi works with top ranked juniors and collegiate players throughout the country and can adapt quickly to people of different ages, skill levels and learning styles.  Throughout the years golf has not only been a game and a career but his passion.

He looks forward to instilling that passion in everyone he has the opportunity to teach!

Born in Phoenix, Arizona and grew up on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.  Lanyi pursued the golf business by attending the Professional Golfers Career College earning a degree in Professional Golf Management in 2000.  Lanyi, became a PGA Class “A” Member in 2005.  He began working in the industry as an Assistant Golf Professional at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, California where Lanyi established a strong junior golf program and was part of the running the Golf Channel's Drive, Chip and Putt events.  A few years later Sean began working at Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, California as the 1st Assistant Golf Professional and Tournament Coordinator where he began to establish himself as a PGA Teaching Professional.  After winning his first professional golf tournament, Lanyi returned home to prepare for his next event and began developing severe pain in his right arm.  After seeing some of the finest surgeons in California it was determined that he needed reconstructive elbow surgery to repair nerve and tendon issues.  Lanyi spent twelve months away from playing, working daily with a trainer and physical therapist to rebuild the strength which led to Sean’s diligent training habits and work ethic away from the golf course.  Sean pursued teaching golf full time and accepted a position at the Kaanapali Golf Resort and the Kapalua Golf Resort, host of the PGA Tour's Hyundai Tournament of Champions on the island of Maui.   After a few years on the island of Maui, Sean accepted the position as the PGA Director of Instruction for the Ko Olina Golf Academy on the island of Oahu.  This opportunity allowed him to create and build a full service golf academy and what turned out to be one of the most popular junior golf programs on the island.    Sean spent over 2 years at Ko Olina, before heading to Las Vegas, where he took on the role as Head Instructor for the PGA TOUR Academy at TPC Las Vegas.  This position exposed Sean to the best players in the world; seeing the PGA Tour players practice regiments, habits and work ethic on a daily basis.  Lanyi then joined the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf at DragonRidge Country Club in Henderson, Nevada.  Eventually making his way back to Orange County, a centralized location for all the golfers he has come in contact with over the years.  Today, Lanyi is based at Black Gold Golf Club.  A favorite of Orange County Golfers, this Arthur Hills designed par 72 layout stretches up to 6756 challenging yards and incorporates several water features including a stunning waterfall off the 18th green, slight elevation changes, rolling hills, strategic bunkering and the incredible vistas overlooking coastal Orange & Los Angeles Counties, including portions of the Newport Beach Coast, and Catalina Island.
