I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and grew up
on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.
I grew up in a snow skiing family until relocating to
Southern California where I pursued playing soccer, baseball,
tennis and eventually golf.
I picked up golf during my junior year in high school,
and haven't set the clubs down since.
I pursued the golf business after high school and
attended the Professional Golfers Career College earning a
degree in Professional Golf Management eventually becoming a PGA
Member in 2005.
I began working in the golf
industry as an Assistant Golf Professional at Oak Creek Golf
Club in Irvine, California where I first learned how to
establish a junior golf program and was part of the Golf
Channel's Drive, Chip and Putt event.
I was promoted to work at Black
Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, California as the 1st Assistant
Golf Professional and Tournament Coordinator where I continued
to establish and grow my teaching business. After winning my
first professional golf tournament, I returned home in
preparation for my next event and began developing severe pain
in my elbow and determined that I needed reconstructive elbow
surgery after dealing with some of the finest doctors in
California. I spent twelve months working with a trainer
and a physical therapist, training and rebuilding the strength
in my arm, which led to establishing a consistent training plan.
I pursued teaching full time and accepted a position as a
Teaching Professional at the Kaanapali Golf Resort as well as
the Kapalua Golf Resort, host of the PGA Tour's SBS
Championship.
After a few years on the island of Maui, I
was promoted to Director of Instruction for the Ko Olina Golf
Academy on Oahu.
This opportunity allowed me to
create and build a full service golf academy and what turned out
to be the most popular junior golf program on the island.
I developed a Link Up to Golf program offering player
development classes for new players as well a full menu of golf
schools for the intermediate to advanced player.
Needing to be closer to family and
friends, I accepted a Head Instructor position for the TOUR
Academy at TPC Las Vegas.
This position exposed me to the best players in the
world; seeing players like Chris Riley, Alex Chejka, Bill Lunde,
Charley Hoffman and Dean Wilson gave me great insight to the
tour players practice regiments, habits and work ethic.
After a few years with the TOUR Academy, I joined the staff as
the Lead Instructor at the Jack Nicklaus Academy at DragonRidge
Country Club. In early 2010, I joined the American Golf
Corporation as the Director of Instruction at Coyote Hills Golf
Club in California. Coyote Hills is designed by Cal Olson
and PGA Tour Legend Payne Stewart in the heart of Orange County,
minutes from Disneyland and great beaches in Southern
California.
I have been fortunate, learning and
teaching with outstanding teachers including Jerry King, Ben
Hongo, Stan Utley, Jim Waldron, Alan Ochiai, Glenn Deck, Mike
Malaska, Seth Glasco, Greg Nichols and Tim Dietrich.
I have worked with top juniors and collegiate players throughout
the country and can adapt to players of different ages, skill
levels and learning styles.
Throughout the years
golf has not only been a game and a career, but my passion.
