Pre-Set Impact Drill
The purpose of this drill is to create the feeling and look of
the correct impact condition at setup, which will help develop a
more consistent return to impact.
Beginning this drill starts with establishing your normal
setup to the golf ball.
Now, create your impact condition by establishing a small
amount of rotation in your legs and hips, a small amount of air
under your trail heel, while keeping your upper body square to
the target line.
Ensure the club head is resting behind the ball, now create a
slight lean in the club shaft towards the target.
This can be done by pushing and straightening your trail
arm which will create the lean in the club shaft forward towards
your target. Make
sure your head is behind the golf ball at this starting point of
this drill. You
have now setup in a normal fashion, you’ve created the sensation
of what impact needs to look and feel like.
Now, you are ready to make a small swing away from the
ball returning the club back into impact.
Just after contact when you have reached the point where
your arms are extended and the club shaft is in line with your
forearms. Hold and
evaluate your finish position at Post Impact, ensure both arms
are straight and extended out, while your trail wrist is
maintained in a bent position.
This drill will help you hit shots solid, 20-30 yards
with a lower trajectory is recommended and ideal.
